b'Protecting Consumer FreedomWe are committed to supporting Americans\' freedom to make choices that are right for their families. As policymakers debate new restrictions on consumers, we continue to lead with facts grounded in decades of research. In fact, calories from sugar-sweetened beverages make up less than six percent of the average American diet. Well keep working to ensure policy decisions are guided by science, not politics, and that consumers have choices and confidence in the safety of those choices. In 2025, we successfully defeated poorly designed policies related to taxes, ingredients, energy drinks and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that would have unnecessarily burdened families in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland and Puerto Rico.Calories from sugar-sweetened beverages make up less than six percent 6% of the average American diet. 3Commitment to SafetySafety has always been our highest priority. Americans want to have confidence in the safety of their foods and beverages, starting with the regulatory process evaluating them. We are committed to ongoing scientific evaluation of ingredients and support pragmatic efforts to modernize the Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) process through Congress, including replacing "self-GRAS" with mandated GRAS notifications for all new or novel food ingredient uses. In fact, with our new Good to Know ingredient website, we are the first industry to make transparent which ingredients in our beverages operate under self-GRAS authority.32020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee: https://www.dietaryguidelines.gov/sites/default/files/2020-07/DA_Supplement_FoodCategorySources_0.pdf American Beverage 2025 Annual Review|7'
